Pinoy Flash Game: Car Can Racing

street game

If there’s one thing I can remember vividly about my childhood years was the fun I had with conventional street games played by kids of my age under the scorching heat of the sun. The memory was timeless, and every time I think about it, I can’t help but smile and start to wonder how time really flies. Like this Car Can Racing Game rekindles those fun moments with friends back in the 80’s. I find it surprising until this day the ingenuity we did out of those tin cans recycled to produce car can toys. Click here to have a good look of how it looks like.

Globe Broadband: No Alternate DNS

Just from plain curiosity I tried to ping Globe Broadband’s alternate DNS and to my surprise it gave me a ping timeout response which means the server is down or out of service.

ping timeout

Then I did an IP lookup. Again to my surprise, the IP belongs to or coming from:

General Information

Hostname: 202.126.35.181
ISP: AyalaPort Makati, Inc.
Organization: AyalaPort Makati, Inc.
Proxy: None detected
Type: Cable/DSL

I Googled some info about the organization and found this interesting article: LINK

What could go wrong when they are backed by one of Japan’s high-tech IT company?

Anyways, Globe’s alternate DNS is down or not functioning as of this moment. Thank you Globe. :(

Globe Broadband: A Month of Glory and Disaster

globe broadband

For the first three weeks of using Globe broadband’s DSL service, I am confident that nothing won’t go wrong thinking that the service in our place is very “NEW” and their servers are not yet congested. Yes, their service performed well from the start giving me 90% of the committed speed which is 1024mbps of downstream and 300kbps of upstream. Not bad right?

But…

As the days pass by everything seemed to go down the drain. Slowly my connection becomes intermittent, disconnecting after an hour or two of rigid usage. Then two days before this post my connection started to go nuts. I cannot browse popular websites such as Yahoo or Google until poof!!! All I can see now is white blank screen indicating that my connection totally went OFFLINE.

I called their hotline a few hours ago and they let me wait for 5 minutes until a CSR answered my call. I told her I’m from the province of Butuan City somewhere south, but to my disbelief she didn’t know where exactly my place is? WHAT??? They have a service here but they don’t know where my city is located. LOL. Back to the issue, the CSR girl who has problems with directions told me that my place is among the many places which is under “REPAIR”.

Everything started to look grim but to my surprise, my connection went back to normal a few minutes after I end the call. Am I lucky or what? I started to wonder what could be the cause of my degrading service? Could it be that I reached a certain bandwidth quota? Could it be someone from Globe forgot to switch my connection to full throttle?

I don’t know.. and too bad there’s no way of knowing.

I’m still skeptic, but 1 star for you Globe for the quick fix! or was it?

Cuil Search Engine - What’s New?

cuil

We have a new search engine in town. It is called “Cuil” pronounced as “cool”, an Irish word for knowledge. The new search engine boast to have indexed three times as many as Google and ten times as many as Microsoft. It does sound cooler than the popular search engines but the BIG question would be - How would Cuil really stand-out from the the big giants like Google and Yahoo? In my opinion, the service should deliver new features never before seen from the big G or Y. Let’s wait and see…
