How-to Quickly Find Your Recently Created or Modified File

These days, with the growing pile of files inside our hard disk, we can easily misplace files or forget their filenames. Luckily, there is this little Windows feature we often missed, and it’s the Arrange Icons by Name, Size, Type, Modified, Picture Taken On, and Dimensions.

What do these features do?

    Arrange Icons by Name
arranges your files in an alphabetical manner. This is useful when you can remember the first letter of the filename.

    Arrange Icons by Size
arranges your files from the smallest to the biggest file size. Usually the icons and txt files will be in the first line followed by the larger file types like exe and bmp files.

    Arrange Icons by Type
groups your file names according to its file type. This is useful when you are looking for two or more similar file types.

    Arrange Icons by Modified
lines your files according to the dates of your file. Recently created or modified files will be lined up in the first row while the older files in the last.

    Arrange Icons by Picture Taken On
arranges your digital pictures in the order in which you took them with your digital camera.

    Arrange Icons by Dimensions
picture files are grouped according to their resolution. Picture files are lined up starting with files which has smaller dimensions.
