Have you ever wondered what files are being cached by your Firefox browser? Using this command “about:cache” you can explore the details about your Firefox cache service. The information displayed about the memory cache device and the disk cache device may come in handy for future reference.

Number of entries – The number of cache objects
Maximum storage size – Cache capacity with a default value of 50000 or 50mb (can be adjusted using the options window)
Storage in use – Storage with content
Inactive storage – Idled space

For some reason, you may disable the memory and the disk cache device by changing the values of the following preference name from “true” to “false”, but be sure to restart your browser to apply the changes.

Disk cache device - browser.cache.disk.enable
Memory cache device - browser.cache.memory.enable

PART 2: Make Your Own Junk Cleaner

Written by Bold Fortune

In Notepad, make a list of TEMP and Junk File extensions you would like to remove.

example:

*.bak, *.chk, *.cnt, *.diz, *.doc, *.edb, *.gid, *.lic, *.gid, *.log, *.old, *.query, *.sav, *.txt

Copy and Paste your list into the search box of Search Assistant.

Be sure that under Search Options you have checked “Advanced Options.” Under Advanced Options check “Search system folders,” “Search hidden files and folders,” and, “Search Subfolders.” Now run your search by clicking on Search Now. Now, at the top of the Search Assistant, select File then Save Search. Next time you want to search for those particular TEMP and Junk files, just click on your new search file. Search Assistant will automatically popup, and you’re ready. Just click Search Now.

I’ve been collecting a number of bookmarks of mp3 download sites since the opening of the website named Kalibog.com. Some of those sites made it to my top 10 sites for availability and ease of use. I’ll be pointing out the pros and cons of each website. Don’t worry; all websites are clean, virus and spyware free.

1. Albumbase.com
Pros: Huge archives of the latest mp3 albums completely for FREE.
Cons: Sign-up is required.

2. Sideload.com
Pros: Individual mp3 link from external sources that gives you playback capability before downloading the actual file.
Cons: Sign-up is required, although you can skip registration and proceed directly to download using the external link provided.

3. Sharez.cn
Pros: Huge list of searchable mp3 album links free for download. No sign-up required.
Cons: I can’t think of one. Sorry

4. Kohit.net
Pros: Stores mp3s in their own servers. No sign-up required. Fast download.
Cons: I can’t think of one. Sorry

5. Tyoogle.com
Pros: This is the drive-thru fast-food type of all mp3 sites, utilizing the power of Google. A Fast and easy, no nonsense mp3 search engine.
Cons: Just be prepared to face an army of dead links left behind by downed or discontinued sources.

6. Kalibog.com
Pros: Regularly updated by members. Kalibog.com is a good source for the latest and high quality OPM (original pinoy music) mp3s.
Cons: A minimum of 10 posts required to access the links.

7. Blogdigger.com
Pros: Wide resources of mp3s from bloggers and their blog sites. It has a search engine.
Cons: You’ll have to dig with your bare hands.

8. xxxemofreakxxx.blogspot.com
Pros: I love rock, emo, and punk music and I love the dedication of the guy behind this blog for doing the dirty work for us. Huge A-Z of mp3 albums free for download.
Cons: Site performance begins to deteriorate due to heavy traffic and lots of content. Nevertheless, this site rocks!

9. 51mpc.com
Pros: Massive collection of free mp3 links and albums.
Cons: No search feature. You’ll have to rely on Firefox Ctrl+F to look for the keywords.

10. Webjay.org
Pros: A variety of mp3s from a crowd of music aficionados all over the globe.
Cons: No on-site search feature, making it difficult to search for keywords.

Free Cpanel Hosting at TFCPH.com

Just to let you all know, I’ve been busy working on my new site hosted by TFCPH.com

This is a lot better than those free hosting services scattered around the web. First, they have a very friendly community; we all know that good hosting starts with the people running it. Next, they don’t have ads and pop-ups and the whole package itself is really a plus factor. Then they only ask you to post in their forums for as little as 20 forum posts. No monthly requirement after that.

1000mb space
Unlimited Email accounts
Unlimited FTP accounts
Unlimited Domains
15 Gb Transfer!

extra features:
cPanel (the best), PHP, MySQL (unlimited), PostgreSQL, CGI Access, FTP Accounts Unlimited Emails, Free Scripts, Awstats Web Stats, RV Skins, Forum Software, FREE Site Builder
…and Much More!

Now, what more can you ask for?

Have you tried making shortcuts using a dot “.” mark? I just learned this in seconds while making a bunch of shortcuts for my desktop. Try to make a good use of this little trick of mine.

Here’s how you do it.

Using the Shortcut Wizard

Right-click on your desktop and create a new shortcut. The wizard asks you to type the location of the item. Type one of the following dots to achieve the corresponding results:

. - One dot opens your system32 folder
.. - Two dots opens your WINDOWS folder

Click finish to create a shortcut

Using the Run dialogue box

Press Windows key+R to launch the run dialogue box

Type “.” w/o the quotes to open your active user folder.

Type “..” w/o the quotes to open your Documents and Settings folder.

Type “…” w/o the quotes to your My Computer.

Just an hour ago while I was writing an article using MS Word, I remembered a useless trick shown to me by my board mate back when we were in college. Back then, I was baffled when he changed his MS Word’s toolbar from the default name that looks like this

tool

Into this

edited

Here’s how he edited his MS Word toolbar and made a fool out of me.

1. Go to Tools, Select Customize

customize

2. Right click File while the Customize window is up
3. Change the Name: &File into something different like Name: &Your name

name

Well, those were the memories.

What’s your old school trick?

Early this evening I talked with a fellow bisaya who administers the Mindanao-Online forum. They say first impressions do last. I think the saying proves to be true after talking with this guy named ^beer^ (his IRC nickname). He offered me free hosting without any hesitation or in visayan word “duha-duha” and he’s doing it for a good cause or in his own words “just trying to help out”. The guy seems to be nice and cool, the same with his forum. In my opinion, Mindanao-Online represents the cities and the people of Mindanao. It is a comprehensive website that strongly reflects the island and it’s inhabitants. My words are limited so might as well discover Mindanao-Online yourself.

If you’re from Mindanao or if you have plans of visiting the island try to stop by at Mindanao-Online.

snipshot

The other day I found this site when I was looking for a quick photo editing tool. I Googled a number of similar tools but I was surprised when I learned how easy and flexible Snipshot is. The feature that allows me to use my mouse when editing my photos and watch it work in front of me is a worthwhile experience. The whole package makes this site even more exciting.

A friend of mine complained to me that she couldn’t upload her pictures on my website because it exceeded the allowed file size. I told her to relax and taught her an old trick on how to compress her images without needing a special editing software. She didn’t thought this could be done so easily.

1. I told her to open her MS Paint
2. She opened her picture
3. then Saved it (Ctrl+S)

That’s all she did to compress her images. Adios!

We all know that most internet users have this top 10 websites they often visit everyday (or even more). This makes typing the entire URL too tasking and boring. However, by doing this tweak you can quickly access websites just by one click alone.

Here’s how you do it:

1. Open your Firefox browser
2. Go to Google.com
3. Key-in the name of the website
4. Point your mouse at the link of the site you’d like to bookmark
5. Hold the left-click of your mouse and drag it to your Firefox toolbar
6. Now you’ll see a button-like bookmark with the name of the website on your toolbar

button

7. Click your newly created button to launch the website
